Are freesat boxes wireless?
A Wi-Fi-enabled Freesat box is not completely wireless. Wi-Fi connects supported apps to broadband; live Freesat channels still need a satellite signal.
What cables are needed?
You normally need the compatible satellite feed, power and a connection to the TV such as HDMI. A recorder may need two satellite feeds to use its recording features fully. Check the exact model and installation.
What Wi-Fi does
Wi-Fi can provide internet access for supported catch-up and streaming apps. App availability varies by box and can change. Ethernet is an alternative where the receiver provides a network socket.
If there is no dish connection
A Freely streamer such as the Manhattan Aero uses broadband for live TV without a dish or aerial. That is a different platform from Freesat, and the Aero does not record programmes.
Choose by signal source, not just the box name
For satellite TV, compare the dish-based Freesat options. For aerial reception, use a Freeview model. For internet-delivered live TV without a dish or aerial, consider a Freely streamer. Apps and recording features vary by device.
