IS it worth repairing a Freesat Box?
Repair can be worthwhile when the box still meets your viewing needs and the fault can be fixed for less than a suitable replacement. It is less useful if the feature you want is an app that the provider has withdrawn.
Compare like for like
Compare the repair quote with a replacement that has the same recording capability, compatible dish input, accessories and warranty. A cheap non-recording receiver is not equivalent to a recorder.
What is the fault?
A recording problem may involve storage, but a drive is not the only possible cause. Signal, software and power issues can look similar. A test and quote are more useful than replacing parts on a guess.
Recordings and existing support
Ask about recordings before any format, reset or drive replacement. Check any remaining manufacturer warranty first. A hardware repair cannot bring back a withdrawn app.
Our quote-based option
Typical repairs cost £60–£75 including return delivery, quoted after testing and approved by you. The booking charge covers postage to us and varies for express or larger items. If no repair goes ahead, testing and repair are free, but postage remains payable: return delivery is £4, or £20 including an engineer’s report; recycling is free.
Troubleshoot before choosing a repair or replacement
Start with the model, fault message, TV input and accessible cable connections. A hardware repair cannot restore a channel or app withdrawn by its provider. If the fault remains, compare diagnosis with the cost of a suitable replacement.
