Moving From SKYQ

  • Hi, firstly, thanks for the great straightforward informative videos. We are looking to switch from SkyQ due to being too expensive, so we need an equivalent set up to our current one. That being SkyQ, plus mini box in a separate room.

After looking into alternatives, Freesat seems to be the way to go for us as we are in a valley with awful tv reception. As Freesat doesn't work in quite the same way as SkyQ, it would seem that we will need 2 Freesat 4K recordable boxes, in different rooms to be able to record in both rooms.

What type of LNB would we need to allow this please, and do you sell them?

We currently just have our Sky dish that has a twin connector on the LNB for SkyQ. But obviously no use, if the Freesat recordable boxes need I believe 2 connectors for each box to be able to record. I look forward to hearing from you.

  • Good afternoon,

If you want to be able to record in both rooms, I suggest this.

    2x Freesat UHD 4K Recorders https://freesatspares.co.uk/products/arris-freesat-uhd-4x-smart-4k-ultra-hd-digital-tv-recorder-500gb-new
    1x Hybrid LNB https://freesatspares.co.uk/products/older-sky-dish-mk3-adapter-hybrid-lnb-4-way

You will also need some Shotgun cable to run to the room for the extra box, from the new LNB on the dish. https://freesatspares.co.uk/products/satellite-cable-dual-shotgun-style-for-freesat-sky

Freesat Boxes have no method of interconnections between boxes like SKYQ, they run as independent devices.
