What is FREESAT?
Freesat is a digital satellite TV service from the BBC and ITV, offering even more free channels than are available on Freeview.
Freesat vs Freeview
As with Freeview, there are no ongoing fees and you don't have to worry about a contract - but you'll need a dish (an old SKY dish will normally work fine) fitted to your home to receive Freesat.
Cheaper Than SKY TV
While this can require an initial outlay, it may suit those who don't get the best reception with Freeview. You'll also need a Freesat set-top box - some of which allow you to pause and rewind live TV.
But what else does Freesat offer, and is it the best option for your home?
Freedom & TV Choice
FREESAT boxes can be used outside the UK if you live in the "footprint" of the satellite signal, from my experience most of France and north Spain will get a good signal with a standard dish, but the further south you go the weaker the signal will get and you will need a much bigger dish*
(please note technically FREESAT is a UK service and rules may apply if using it outside the UK area)
