Freesat appears to have stopped working since she returned from a 6 week holiday.

  • I have a friend whose Freesat appears to have stopped working since she returned from a 6 week holiday. The dish looks to be similar to a Sky Zone 1 and appears to be worn and a bit rusty looking. The cable runs along the outside of her house to a box below her sitting room window where it connects to another cable that runs within the wall eventually coming out behind her TV. The TV (can't remember the make or model at the moment) has a FreeSat cable entry on the back. All the cables appear to be connected properly. Channel scanning on her tv using the current settings suggests that it cannot find a signal. There are a lot of satellite options available and I am unsure whether to change this. While she was away there were several strong gales and I wonder whether the dish has become misaligned. Either that or perhaps the dish LNB has a problem.

Unlikely to be the TV, but always a possibility. Could you advise on the best way to help please? I am fairly technically minded and have been exploring forums dedicated to the satellite technology. This is how I found your site, a mine of helpful information. Rather than setting out and purchasing - for example the Satlink WS-6906 _ I thought it would be a good idea to contact you for advice and possible hardware.

  • Hi I can't give specific information
But here's some general things that I would suggest

Get yourself a cheap signal finder, lots on eBay for £50 or less see if you can get a signal out of the dish

If the signal finder finds the signal but the box is still not working you know it's the box that's gone wrong

Make sure you double check all the cables in connections lots of videos on YouTube for this

If you do need the box repairs and you're able to send it to us then look on our website for further details
